Summary edit

Description

Learned something on our bank holiday explorations today: the first ever controlled flight by a british pilot on british soil took place on the Isle of Sheppey!!! And it turns out that most other famous names from the early history of aviation visited there too (including the Wright Brothers)

This sculpture is at the entrance to Eastchurch village - and is of a Short Brothers biplane (those same brothers who later built sea planes in Rochester). While recognisable as a flying machine, I struggle to work out which is the front.......
