Description
English: Early snowdrops - Barnsley House Also called Candlemas Bells, Fair-Maids-of-February, Blackbird Flower, Snow Piercer. One of the first signs of spring, the snowdrop was a symbol of purity and the flowers used to be picked for decorating the churches by young maidens for the Feast of Purification on 2nd February which is Candlemas Day.
