Description
English: Eartham House, Eartham An earlier house was the home of William Huskisson MP who in 1830 became the first ever person to be killed by a railway train when he was run-over on the opening of the Liverpool to Manchester Railway. The house was demolished and the present one was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1905. It became the home of Sir William Bird (of Bird's Custard fame)but in the 1920s became Great Ballards School.
