Summary edit
DescriptionEast facade of Belsay Hall - geograph.org.uk - 1384621.jpg |
English: East facade of Belsay Hall For centuries, the Belsay estate was the home of the Middleton family. The original dwelling was Belsay Castle [1], a medieval tower house later extended by an unfortified Jacobean house.
The Middletons abandoned the castle in the early nineteenth century when Sir Charles Monck moved the family into a new home, the neo-classical Belsay Hall. The photo is looking west to the portico entrance and east facade of the house. |
