Raststätte Gnadenbrot ist ein LGBT-Community Restaurant in der Martin-Luther-Straße Ecke Motzstraße, Berlin-Schöneberg mit einem humorigen Namen, und mit einem Dekor und einer Speisekarte, die an eine damalige west-deutsche Autobahnraststätte erinnern sollen. Serviert wird werden vertraute und beliebte Speisen, die ein wenig an die "alte Bundesrepublik" erinnern, und das alles mit einem typisch queeren Augenzwinkern.

Raststätte Gnadenbrot is an LGBT community restaurant on Martin-Luther-Straße at the corner of Motzstraße, Berlin-Schöneberg with a humorous name*, and with a decor and menu designed to harken back to what one might have expected to find in a former West German motorway service station. Comfort food is served of the sort reminiscent of "old" West-Germany, not without a sprinkle of camp.

Dear fellow travellers,

Individuality is our magic word. With us you can rest, drink, celebrate, eat. We'll organize your birthday party, your coffee klatsch, your Sunday brunch. You can even give us as a gift - we offer gift certificates in every price range at the counter. We'd be happy to take your drinks and food orders at the table. You can serve yourself to soup, stew and salad in the self-service area. There you will always find fresh bread and butter in the refrigerated display case. On your way back to your table, please arm yourself with eating utensils.

When your beer mat holder flashes and beeps, your order is ready and waiting for you at the food counter.^[2]

* The name of the restaurant "Raststätte Gnadenbrot" translates literally to English "Motorway Service Station Grace Bread". "Gnadenbrot" (Eng. literally: Grace bread) was historically a form of alimentation often including lodging (or stables in the event that the recipient was an animal) granted to a former servant or employee, or working animal (esp. horses and dogs) in old age when the person or animal was no longer able to work. As opposed to a pension, or a charitable donation "Gnadenbrot" was granted voluntarily by the benefactor out of gratitude for / in recognition of excellent services by the beneficiary during their working years. The phrase is used figuratively in contemporary German to suggest that a person or an animal is no longer working due to old age.^[3]
