After requiring registration for editing articles, the total number of editors at the Portuguese Wikipedia declined sharply, and the number of registered editors rose.

Description
English: In October 2020, the Portuguese Wikipedia began an experiment to see what would happen if contributors were required to login before making any edits. Before the change, about 6,000 registered editors (yellow line) and and unknown number of users from about 23,000 IP addresses (red line) made edits each month. After the change, there were 9,000 registered editors plus edits (e.g., to Discussion: pages) from about 300 IP addresses each month.
