The Ford Edsel is widely regarded as one of the largest marketing flops in automobile history.

Even with its innovative features such as engine warning lights and seatbelts as standard, it failed to gain any traction amongst car buyers. For all the release-day fanfare of "E Day", and its own television show, "The Edsel Show" , sales never reached anywhere near a break-even point. As a result, the model was withdrawn three years after its release, with a total loss of $350 million ($2.7 billion in 2012 value).
