| Inscription | Chronik Die Urzelle, namentlich das Kellergewölbe der ehemaligen Weinschänke „Zum Rodensteiner", existierte bereits im späten Mittelalter. Nachweislich steht das Vorderhaus in seinem heutigen Erscheinungsbild seit der 1. Hälfte des 17. Jahrhunderts. Baumeister war Hans Weber, der ab 1622 in Eisenach wohnte und wirkte. Sein Markenzeichen „Stier und Herzchen" ziert insbesondere die Giebelseite. Das „R" an der Hauptfassade verweist auf die Zugehörigkeit zum Hotel Rautenkranz, der Name auf den trinkfesten Ritter Rodenstein, der aus den braven Bürgern dieser Stadt wackere Zecher und sogar Minnesänger machte. Im 20. Jahrhundert wurde der Rodensteiner zweimal umfassend restauriert: 1937 von Albert Jordan, der das Fachwerk freilegen ließ, und 1996 bis 1998 von der Nachgeneration. |

Dieses Foto wurde im Rahmen der WLM-Fototour 2015 in Eisenach erstellt, die vom 21. bis 22. März 2015 im Zusammenhang mit einem überregionalen Stammtisch (Thüringen, Hessen, Sachsen) sowie in Vorbereitung auf den Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments 2015 stattfand. |
