CATENARY TROLLEY CONSTRUCTION ON MANHATTAN BRIDGE—VIEW OF COMPLETED CONSTRUCTION AND FIRST TWO CARS TO CROSS BRIDGE UNDER NEW OVERHEAD WORK THE Manhattan Bridge Three-Cent Line runs be-tween the corner of Flatbush Avenue and FultonStreet, Brooklyn, N. Y., and the corner of theBowery and Canal Street, Manhattan. The route is 2miles long, about half the distance being over the Man-hattan Bridge. This line had been operated on thelower-deck tracks of the bridge, but since these trackswere intended to be used by the rapid transit line con-necting the subways in Manhattan and Brooklyn, itbecame necessary to operate the Three-Cent Line on theupper deck. This made it essential to adopt a methodof supporting the trolley wire which would give themaximum degree of safety as well as good operatingconditions. A construction which would not detractfrom the attractive appearance of the bridge was alsodesirable. The use of the usual span-wire construction was notfeasible in this case since a doubl
