An accompanying engravingreproduced from a line drawing shows the detail constructionof the pole tops supporting the three-phase high-tensiontransmission line and the trolley brackets. The transmissionpressure is 15.000 volts, and No. 000 hard-drawn copper wiresare used, mounted on Lima porcelain insulators 7 inches are tapped at intervals of five poles to a 600,000-circular milfeeder cable connecting the substations. The poles, which are roundnorthern cedar, 40 feet long, are sunk 6 feet in the .groundand spaced 110 feet apart. An interesting method is used for preserving the butts ofthe poles. This comprises the use of crude petroleum to the four-track line that the overhead construction on this sectiondiffers in character from that customarily used.
