English: This photo shows a layer of agarose gel used in the electrophoresis of the DNA. An UV light below allows us to see the DNA fragments, marked with special colors, that are traveling to the negative pole. Thank to the restriction enzymes that cut specific sites of the DNA chain, and the polymorphisms that DNA has, we obtain different leght fragments that will travel to the negative pole with different speeds, creating the blue bands that you can see in the photo.This method is used to compare samples of DNA and trace the source of a sample. Italiano: Questa foto inquadra uno strato di gel (agarosio) che è stato utilizzato per effettuare l'elettroforesi del DNA. Come si può notare grazie alla luce UV, il DNA è in fase di migrazione verso il polo negativo. Grazie a questa tecnica è possibile rintracciare la fonte dello stesso DNA grazie ad enzimi di restrizione che andranno a tagliare determinati siti. Grazie alla presenza di polimorfismi nel DNA, i frammenti tagliati avranno dimensioni diverse, di conseguenza i frammenti più lunghi viaggeranno più lentamente verso il polo negativo, ciò determina la suddivisione in fasce del DNA , permettendo di comparare i diversi campioni.
