Deutsch: 1938 erfuhr die Stadt Celle von einem Gemälde von der jungen Eleonore d'Olbreuse das sich im Besitz deren Nachfahren befand. Im August 1938 begann der Celler Oberbürgermeister mit Madame Desmier d'Olbreuse, wegen eines Verkaufs des Bildes zu verhandeln. Sie war zum Verkauf bereit, forderte aber 350.000 Französische Franc (nach seinerzeitigem Umrechnungskurs 24.445 Reichsmark (RM). Die Celler hielten den Preis für indiskutdabel. Die Direktoren des Pariser Louvre und der Gemäldegalerie des Berliner Kaiser-Friedrich-Museums, heute Bode-Museum schätzten den Wert auf 500 bis 600 RM. Der Handel scheiterte zunächst. Nach dem zwischen dem Deutschen Reich und Frankreich geschlossenen Waffenstillstand 1940 war Madame d'Olbreuse bereit das Gemälde für 50.000 Franc (2.500 RM) und eine Kopie des Bildes abzugeben. Die Vermittlung führte der in Frankreich statonierte Otto Marloh, Hauptmann der Deutschen Wehrmacht. Georg Schnath, Archivar aus Hannover, damals Archivschutzoffizier in Frankreich, nahm das Gemälde in Empfang und ließ es nach Celle bringen. 1947 wurde der Erwerb des Gemäldes von den Alliierten beanstandet. 1954 erhielt die Stadt Celle das Bild zurück, die Ermittlungen dazu laufen aber noch. 2018 wurde das Gemälde für mehrere Monate als Leihgabe in Frankreich ausgestellt.
