Description
English: In November of 1833 the party in which Bodmer was travelling stopped to camp along the Missouri. Aquatint engraving with original hand coloring by Karl Bodmer 1833 – 1834. de: Rast der Mitglieder der deutschen Expedition nach Nordamerika am Fluss Missouri im Jahr 1833. In den Käfigen im Boot befinden sich junge Bären für die Rückreise nach Deutschland. Kupferstich handkoloriert von Karl Bodmer.

Source Aquatint engraving with original hand coloring: „Encampment of the Travellers on the Missouri“ by Karl Bodmer from his travel to the United States 1833-1834, printed with hand coloring 1839-1841 in the book "Reisen in das innere Nordamerikas 1832-1834", Vignette 23. In November of 1833 the party in which Bodmer was travelling stopped to camp along the Missouri. This auto-biographical scene shows Bodmer and Maxmilian setting camp along the river. Seen in the boat are the cages which held the bear cubs Maxmilian intended to bring back to Germany.
