Summary edit

Description
English: Enchanter's nightshade (Circaea lutetiana ) An inconspicuous sort of plant to have acquired such a romantic name but European herbalists reckoned it was this that Circe used to turn Odysseus' crew into pigs. It is not related to the other nightshades but it does grow in dim, dank places. In the image it can be seen that little round hairy seed pods are forming after the flowers. Growing here among other vegetation beside the path along the estuary.
