L'identification du propriétaire du ms. BNF fr. 1202 fait débat en raison de l'homonymie héraldique entre Béraud III de Clermont-Sancerre et Guichard II Dauphin. En effet, les deux hommes ont successivement été amenés à porter les mêmes armes, à savoir un écu écartelé d'Auvergne et de Sancerre, en raison de leurs liens de parenté. En l'absence d'autres marques d'appropriation au sein du manuscrit, il est impossible d'identifier avec certitude son propriétaire. Inès Villela-Petit rapporte toutefois que le nom du seigneur de Jaligny aurait été vu mentionné sous l'explicit du BNF fr. 1202 mais cette mention a été grattée et effacée (I. Villela-Petit, "Béraud III ou Guichard II Dauphin ? Un cas d'Homonymie héraldique", Revue française d'héraldique et de sigillographie, 71-72, 2002, p. 64). |
