Summary edit
DescriptionEnterprise (sternwheeler 1863).jpg |
English: Enterprise, a sternwheeler constructed in 1863 at Canemah, Oregon. The vessel is shown here haulling a cargo in bags, probably wheat, on the Willamette River, somewhere up from Corvallis.
This vessel should not be confused with the many other steamboats named Enterprise, including in particular the steamer Enterprise, also built at Canemah, but in 1855, which was no longer on the Willamette River as of 1858. For dates of vessel operation and construction, see Affleck, Edward L., A Century of Paddlewheelers in the Pacific Northwest, the Yukon, and Alaska, Alexander Nicholls Press, Vancouver, BC 2000 ISBN 0-920034-08-X. |
