Description
Español: Fue inaugurado, solemnemente, por el General Omar Torrijos Herrera el 10 de noviembre de 1974, en el marco de las ceremonias oficiales dedicadas a exaltar la gloriosa gesta del 10 de noviembre de 1821, cuando se celebra el primer grito de independencia del poder español, que se dio precisamente en la Heroica Villa de los Santos.

Con la creación de este museo se cumplió una vieja aspiración patriótica de la doctora Reina Torres de Araúz, desaparecida Directora de Patrimonio Histórico del Instituto Nacional de Cultura. La tradición oral señalaba al noble edificio donde se ubicó al Museo de la Nacionalidad, como el lugar donde se reunió el Cabildo Santeño para declarar rotos los lazos políticos que nos unían al imperio español.

El histórico inmueble cumplió distintas funciones a través de las épocas y posteriormente, pasó a ser propiedad de don Francisco Villalaz, cuyos herederos los traspasaron por compra, a la Dirección Nacional del Patrimonio Histórico para instalar allí la institución museística. Al decir del profesor Raúl González Guzmán, a quien debemos la disposición museográfica de la institución.
