Description
English: Entrance Gate. Yue Fei Temple, Hangzhou

Yue Fei Temple is located on the northwest shore of West Lake in Hangzhou, the capital of the Southern Song dynasty. It was founded in the 12th century, although the present buildings are late 19th century.

The temple enshrines Yue Fei (1103-1142), a great Song general who is buried on the grounds. Yue Fei successfully fought the Jurchen Jin but was betrayed and executed on trumped-up charges by the "peace" faction at the Southern Song court, led by Prime Minister Qin Hui and his wife Lady Wang.
