| Description |
English: Entrance to Edgar's Field. These impressive gate posts flank the entrance to Edgar's Field from Handbridge, although I imagine the gates themselves were sacrificed for salvage during the second world war. The painted fire hydrant sign probably also dates to that time, and there is also a benchmark, from an earlier period, on the low wall to the right of the entrance. See also 736926. The reputed Roman shrine to Minerva can be seen in the distance on the right of the left hand gatepost. |
