| Description |
English: Entrance to St Bartholomew's Hospital St Bartholomew's Hospital 'Barts' is London's oldest and best-loved hospital. It was founded in 1123 by Rahere, formerly a courtier of Henry I along with the adjoining Priory of St Bartholomew. In the early medieval period the sick were cared for by the brethren and sisters of the Priory, but gradually the Hospital became independent. |
