Description
English: Entrance to the Robinettes Arm. From the Nottingham Canal, this broad junction leads eastward for half-a-mile along the Robinettes Arm. This short branch once served the Robinettes coal mine, but is now useful as the principal water feeder to this section of canal via the small stream running down from Oldmoor Wood. Open cast mining at Awsworth to the north has now cut off the original main Nottingham Canal water feeders from Giltbrook and Moorgreen reservoir 1579733. Looks peaceful today, but there are plans to dig out more coal from the hill at the back via open cast workings (the type of coal here is ideal for coal-fired power stations). Looks like yet another potential battle ground between environmentalists and UK Coal.
