Description
Português: Durante mais de 350 anos de tráfico transatlântico, o Brasil recebeu cerca de 5 milhões de africanos escravizados.

Entre os séculos 16 e 19, este brutal comércio fez prisioneiros de diferentes partes da África. Cerca de 12 milhões de pessoas foram retiradas de seus lares e, nesta travessia, mais de 2 milhões de africanos perderam suas vidas.

O Brasil foi o maior receptor desse fluxo forçado, o que deu ao país o título de segunda maior população negra do mundo, atrás apenas da Nigéria, na África.

Neste especial sobre o Dia da África, criado em 25 de maio de 1963 e marcado anualmente pela comunidade internacional, o Centro de Informação das Nações Unidas para o Brasil (UNIC Rio) entrevista Alberto da Costa e Silva – ex-embaixador em países africanos e membro da Academia Brasileira de Letras (ABL) – sobre a importância do continente africano para a formação do Brasil e sobre o cruel tráfico transatlântico.
