Summary

edit
Description Native, warm-season, perennial, erect, much-branched, hairy herb to 40 cm tall. Leaves are linear to narrow ovate, toothed, hairy and 1-5 mm wide. Flowers are small, purplish pink and solitary in the leaf axils; the stalks elongate when in fruit. Flowering is from late spring to early autumn. Found in moist areas of grasslands, woodlands and forests. Native biodiversity. Rarely abundant in grazed pastures and of little importance to grazing animals. Most common in lightly grazed situations. Tends to be a colonising species that is most abundant in disturbed areas; it declines as grasses thicken up.
