Description
English: This picture is a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) view of a natural sponge. It is formed by the skeleton of the Spongia marine animal. It can retain a large quantity of water thanks to capillaries effect across scale from the large holes of the sponge (as the one in the middle of the picture) to the micrometre gap in between the fibre.
