Description
English: Minister Erik Brofoss with his son Karl Erik have a lunch break at Grorud railway station, Oslo, Norway. (The boy was 3 years old when the picture was taken). He joined the Norwegian government-in-exile in 1942 and became Minister of Finance in Einar Gerhard's first Ap government in 1945. Brofoss was associated with the new generation of economists who wanted increased use of plan economic instruments and introducing national accounts to avoid the recurrence of the economic crisis of the interwar period. In 1947 he took over the Ministry of Commerce and Shipping, a ministry he himself proposed.
