Description
Español: Escudo de la Diócesis de Maracay. Estado Aragua. Venezuela

El escudo de la Diócesis de Maracay ostenta la forma de los blasones españoles, en recuerdo de Don Diego de Baños y Sotomayor, promotor de la creación de la Parroquia del Valle de Maracay.

Sobreun único cuartel en blanco un ramillete de flores de lis en color plata rodeando una cruz dorada. Las flores de lis, o lirios heráldicos, representan a San José, Protector del Redentor, Jesucristo, simbolizado en la cruz de oro. San José es Patrono de la ciudad episcopal, y está presente en ella desde su génesis. Es también Patrono de la Diócesis.

En la parte baja del cuartel, unas ondas en azur (azul) significan el agua del bautismo, sacramento que abre las puertas de la vida eterna. Simbolizan también el Lago de los Tacariguas, en cuyas márgenes se asentaron los primeros habitantes de la región.

Una estrella al extremo superior derecho, al saliente, simboliza a María Virgen, veneradabajo el título de Nuestra Señora de Belén.

La bordura en sínople(verde) que bordea al escudo recuerda a las iglesias madres de Maracay: Caracas, con su majestuoso Ávila, y Calabozo, con su llanura ilimitada.

Esta bordura lleva superpuestas ocho cruces doradas, símbolo de los ocho arciprestazgos que conforman la Diócesis.

Corona el escudo la cruz episcopal y debajo, en una cinta de color plata, aparece el lema Redemptoris Custos, que hace referencia a la tarea que el mismo Dios encargó a San José.
