Description	Esvres ou Esvres-sur-Indre (Indre-et-Loire) Le Pont Girault dit aussi Pont Romain. Le pont relie les communes de Saint-Branchs et d'Esvres. Ce pont médiéval (XIIIe, XVe), et non romain, enjambe l'Echandon, affluent de l'Indre. L'avant-bec* de la pile du pont, de section horizontale triangulaire, est typiquement médiéval. La forme triangulaire réduisait la pression du flot sur la pile. Les avant-becs de plusieurs ponts du Limousin donnent en section horizontale, non point un angle aigu ou droit,comme ici, mais une courbe en tiers-point*, ce qui permet un meilleur glissement de l’eau courante. L'avant-bec, situé face à l'amont, s'oppose à l'arrière-bec situé vers l'aval. (En 1798, l'Académie définissait l'avant-bec comme l'angle de la pile). Arc en tiers-point : Arc en ogive dont les centres des deux arcs sont placés aux tiers de l'ouverture.
