English: Eversden Millennium Marker A reminder on co-ordinate systems:
The GPS reading for this marker, in WGS84 coordinates, was 0.0966 minutes W, placing it some 68 metres from whatever WGS84 calls the zero meridian. However, the conversion to OS grid coordinates used on this site, TL 36793 53260, equates to a longitude on OSGB36 coordinates of just 0.14 seconds E, within 2 metres of the genuine meridian - i.e. within the probable error of a hand-held GPS. There is a Lat/Long intersection cross (52°10', 0°0') near the top of this grid square. |
