| Description |
English: Exmouth: The sea defence wall This is an illustration of one sort of sea defence wall where the recurved top has been designed to redirect the energy of the waves back out to sea. However this increases the local turbulence, and more recent designs have used a long sloping revetment which better absorbs the energy and produces less turbulence. However these revetments occupy much more horizontal space and are arguably less aesthetically pleasing.
