Summary edit

Description
English: Some time ago I made a pair as the one at right. Two wood ends with the central section of a Coca-Cola PET bottle between them, with two plastic foam balls painted with conductive ink suspended inside. They were not good. The balls don't separate more than a small distance. I realized that the problem was the top plate repelling the balls, and confirmed this with an electrostatic field solver. I then modified one to the shape at left, rising the upper plate. This form worked perfectly. Something curious to study is the effect of the lateral grounded plates. They increase the sensitivity, but turn the system unstable after a certain voltage, attracting the balls.
