Description Explorer's Memorial - Penrith New South Wales. Erected in 1938 to commemorate the 125th Anniversary of the first crossing of the Blue Mountains by Blaxland, Lawson & Wentworth. This plaque laid in 1963 at the base commemorates the 150th Anniversary of the expedition of George Evans, Surveyor & Explorer. Evans went on to discover the Bathurst Plains and the Lachlan & Macquarie Rivers. Located on Memorial Ave.
