Description
Français : Prise de vue du 2 mars 1871 après l'explosion de l'arsenal.
Après la défaite des troupes françaises de Napoléon III face à la Prusse, près de 90'000 soldats français cherchent refuge en Suisse ; 780 sont hébergés à Morges. Alors qu'une partie de cette troupe est occupée à désamorcer et à ranger des munitions dans le château de Morges, un des français fait accidentellement exploser une cartouche, ce qui entraîne l'explosion des réserves contenues dans l'arsenal. 26 personnes, principalement des soldats français, trouvent la mort dans le terrible accident, qui détruit en partie le château et souffle jusqu'aux fenêtres de la ville de Thonon.
