| Description |
English: Exposed sand, near Ardmore. The photograph was taken while standing on a tongue-shaped sandy area that extends from the shore, and which is exposed only at or near low tide.
Some parts of the beach nearby were almost entirely covered with mussels (see 1076122), but the area from which this photograph was taken was relatively free of shells and rocks. In the background, the distant wooded slopes visible to the left of centre are Highlandman's Wood (see NS2884), above Helensburgh. To the right of centre is a peak (Beinn Tharsuinn, NS2991) topped with snow, and with lower arms reaching out on either side; see 981515, where these hills are discussed (although not shown very clearly). |
