Description
Alsace and Lorraine are two regions in the North-East of France, next to the German border. In 1871, after the Franco-Prussian War, they had been ceded to Germany. This print shows the 1878 World Fair exhibition about Alsace-Lorraine. The exhibit was created by the Society of protection of French people living in these territories. Alsace-Lorraine was given back to France after the First World War, then was conquered again by the Germans during the Second World War, and finally ceded back to France in 1945.
