Description

Two U.S. Navy Grumman F-14A Tomcat of Fighter Squadron VF-32 "Swordsmen" return to the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67) at the end of exercise "FLEET EX 90".

On 4 January 1989, two aircraft of VF-32, "Gypsy 202" Bureau Number 159437 (crew: Lt. Hermon C. Cook/Cdr. Steven Patrick Collins), and "Gypsy 207" Bureau Number 159610 (crew: Cdr. Joseph Bernard Connelly/Cdr. Leo F. Enright) shot down two Libyan Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23.
