Description
English: A Grumman F-14A Tomcat aircraft waits behind the blast deflector panels as another F-14 from fighter squadron VF-84 Jolly Rogers prepares for launching during flight operations aboard the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70). A Vought A-7E Corsair II aircraft from attack squadron VA-82 Marauders is ready for launch on the port catapult, 15 June 1982. All aircraft were assigned to Carrier Air Wing Eight (CVW-8), which was at that time mostly stationed on the USS Nimitz (CVN-68); however, on 7 May 1982 the Atlantic Fleet Training Group and CVW-8 embarked aboard Carl Vinson and the ship began Refresher Training.
