Description Two German Luftwaffe McDonnell Douglas F-4F Phantom II in flight. 110 of 175 German F-4Fs were modernized between 1991 and 1996, the programme was called "Improved Combat Efficency (ICE)". The modernization centered around the installation of the Hughes AN/APG-65 radar and the capability to fire the AIM-120 AMRAAM missile. Here, modernized 38+43 wears the emblem of Jagdgeschwader 72 "Westfalen", 38+13 wears the emblem of the Luftwaffe test centre Wehrtechnische Dienststelle 61.
