DescriptionF3H F11F CVA-19 1960.jpg | Planes on the aircraft carrier USS Hancock (CVA-19) at Pearl Harbor (Hawaii, USA) in 1960/61: the two planes with the folded wings are McDonnell F3H-2 Demon fighters of fighter squadron VF-114 Executioners. In the foreground and to the right are three of the rare Grumman F11F-1 Tiger fighters of VF-111 Sundowners, all aircraft being part of Carrier Air Group Eleven (CVG-11). The Hancock was on a regular deployment to the Western Pacific from July 1960 to March 1961. The view is towards Ford Island, the structure in the water is the wreck of the USS Utah (AG-16), sunk on 7 Dec 1941. |
