DescriptionF4U-4 VF-671 CV-40 1951.jpg | Four Vought F4U-4 fighters of fighter squadron VF-671 Waldomen on 15 December 1951. VF-671 was assigned to Carrier Air Group Eight (CVG-8) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Tarawa (CV-40), which was on a regular deployment to the Mediterranean Sea from 28 November 1951 to 11 June 1952. VF-671 was a reserve squadron called to active duty on 1 Feb 1951. It was redesignated VF-81 on 4 Feb 1953 and again to VA-66 on 1 Jul 1955. It was finally disestablished on 1 Oct 1986. |
