Description A U.S. Navy Vought F4U-4 Corsair of Attack Squadron VA-74 "Sunday Punchers" crashes on board the aircraft carrier USS Phillipine Sea (CV-47). The plane, piloted by LTJG M. Stachow, crashed after hitting the port side of the flight deck. VA-74 was assigned to Carrier Air Group 7 (CVG-7) aboard the Philippine Sea for a deployment to the Mediterranean Sea from 4 January to 31 May 1949.
