Description Commander Utter, Commander Carrier Air Group 18 (CVG-18), lands a Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat of Fighting Squadron 18 (VF-18) aboard the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Leyte (CV-32), on 4 September 1946. The Landing Signal Officer at right was Lt. Bertoglio. This was the first landing of an aircraft on Leyte which had been commssioned on 11 April 1946. CVG-18 was aboard for her shakedown cruise to the Caribbean from 16 September to 12 December 1946.
