DescriptionFEMA - 40329 - Emergency Generators in US Virgin Islands.jpg |
English: St. Thomas, VI, March 26, 2009 -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) donated thirty eight (38) standby power generators to the US Virgin Islands that will shore up the territory's emergency shelters and provide back-up electrical power to other areas critical to the infrastructure of the islands in the event of a disaster. This concerted effort by VITEMA's State Director Mark Walters and FEMA Caribbean Area Director Alejandro De La Campa, and through an agreement between the VI government and the U.S. Department of Defense, the generators arrived by C-130 military aircraft from Puerto Rico and through a local multi-agency effort, were transported to a storage facility in the Virgin Islands.
