Description
English: Photo from "The SS Day" (Norwegian: SS-dagen) held in Oslo, Norway 14-15 August 1943, an event celebrating the Norwegian volunteers in Germanic SS Norway" (Germanske-SS Norge, GSSN) with parades, sport competitions, speeches, etc. Photo showing Vidkun Quisling and other leaders of his National Union (Nasjonal Samling, NS) as well as Wilhelm Rediess and other German leaders outside Oslo University in Nazi occupied Norway during Second World War. The paramilitary GSSN was at the same time a Norwegian branch of Germanic-SS, and a sub organization of the Norwegian Nazi party National Union.


Norsk bokmål: Foto fra «SS-dagene» i Oslo 14.-15. august 1943. Propagandaarrangementet foregikk i det tyskokkuperte Norge under andre verdenskrig. Det omfattet taler, idrettskonkurranser, parademarsj, faneoverrekkelse og annet for medlemmer i Germanske SS Norge med teltleir for norske «frontkjempere» på St.Hanshaugen. Se filmopptak fra helgen i Filmavisen nr 63 (23. august 1943) og propagandaheftet SS-dagen 1943.

Bildet viser NS' fører og ministerpresident Vidkun Quisling som med utstrakt arm («norsk hilsen») hilser medlemmer av GSSN som marsjerer på Karl Johans gate forbi Universitetsplassen i Oslo sentrum. På podiet står også SS-Obergruppenführer und General der Polizei Wilhelm Rediess, SS-standartfører og minister Jonas Lie (føreren for Germanske SS Norge, iført svart SS-uniform med skilue og NS' solkors-ørn på jakkeermet) og AT-generalen . Ellers sees blant annet flere tyskere i grå SS-uniformer.

Germanske-SS Norge ble opprettet sommeren 1942 som en norsk avdeling innen det tyske Germanske-SS. Organisasjonen var formelt også underavdeling av det norske nazistpartiet Nasjonal Samling (NS).

Bildet er kopiert fra fotoarkivet til Museet for Danmarks Frihedskamp 1940-1945 i Købehavn. Det er ifølge museets merking ingen kjente rettighetsbegrensninger på bruk av bildet.
