Description
English: Photo from "The SS Day" (Norwegian: SS-dagen) held in Oslo, Norway 14-15 August 1943, an event celebrating the Norwegian volunteers in Germanic SS Norway" (Germanske-SS Norge, GSSN) with parades, sport competitions, speeches, etc. Photo showing leaders of Quisling's National Union (Nasjonal Samling, NS), German civil and military leaders, and "front fighters", Norwegian Waffen-SS men, in Nazi occupied Norway during Second World War. The paramilitary GSSN was at the same time a Norwegian branch of Germanic-SS, and a sub organization of the Norwegian Nazi party National Union.
Norsk bokmål: Foto fra «SS-dagene» i Oslo 14.-15. august 1943. Propagandaarrangementet foregikk i det tyskokkuperte Norge under andre verdenskrig. Det omfattet taler, idrettskonkurranser, parademarsj, faneoverrekkelse og annet for medlemmer i Germanske SS Norge med teltleir for norske «frontkjempere» på St.Hanshaugen. Bildet viser NS' fører og ministerpresident Vidkun Quislings appell til Germanske SS Norge på Slottsplassen i Oslo før faneoverrekkelsen (faneinnvielsen) under «SS-dagen» søndag 15. august. Bak Quisling står adjutant Carl Haakon Langlie, (trolig) SS-stabsleder dr. Leif Schjøren, (ukjent tysk SS-offiser), (ukjent tysk offiser med adjutantsnor), SS-Obergruppenführer und General der Polizei Wilhelm Rediess og SS-standartfører, minister Jonas Lie (føreren for Germanske SS Norge). Bildet viser også rytterstatuen av Karl Johan og utsyn ned mot Krl Johans gate.

Germanske-SS Norge ble opprettet sommeren 1942 som en norsk avdeling innen det tyske Germanske-SS. Organisasjonen var formelt også underavdeling av det norske nazistpartiet Nasjonal Samling (NS).

Bildet er kopiert fra fotoarkivet til Museet for Danmarks Frihedskamp 1940-1945 i Købehavn. Det er ifølge museets merking ingen kjente rettighetsbegrensninger på bruk av bildet.
