Description

L'Institut du Monde Arabe (IMA) est installé depuis 2016 à Tourcoing dans l'ancienne école de natation. Le bâtiment a été construit en 1904 par la ville dont le maire Gustave Dron était un fervent partisan de l'éducation populaire afin d'apprendre à nager à chaque enfant et d'inciter la population à pratiquer le sport. Fermé en 1999, une partie des bâtiments a été rénovée pour y installer l'IMA. Le bassin n'a pas été remis en état comme à Roubaix et reste inaccessible au public. L'IMA dispose de bureaux, d'un hall d'accueil, d'une salle d'exposition temporaire et d'espaces pour accueillir les groupes.
