Fabrica de maşini MARTA, ridicată în 1905, a fost prima uzină de automobile de pe actualul teritoriu al României^[2].

MARTA este acronimul pentru Magyar Automobil Részvény Társaság Arad. Firma era o sucursală a firmei americane Westinghouse, prin intermediul filialei franceze din Le Havre, Franţa ^[3].

Fabrica din Arad producea automobile atât pentru Budapesta cât şi pentru uz local. De asemenea a exportat automobile în mai multe ţări europene, inclusiv în Anglia^[4].

Din 1915 până în 1918 aici s-au fabricat numai motoare de avion.
