Description
English: Barrel tiles at Farnham Pottery tile. Barrel tiles are made by "throwing" a pipe and then cutting it in half prior to firing. The tiles in this picture are green-glazed using a technique developed by the pottery in the late nineteenth century using copper oxide to give the colour. This picture was taken during an open day to the Farnham Pottery.
