Description

AN EGYPTIAN PAINTED WOOD MUMMY PORTRAIT OF A WOMAN ROMAN PERIOD, PROBABLY FROM ER-RUBAYAT, CIRCA 2ND-3RD CENTURY A.D. With large almond-shaped eyes, centrally parted hair with loose locks across the forehead, full lips and 'Venus' rings visible on her neck, bejewelled in hoop pendant earrings, and an open chain necklace with pendant, wearing dark blue tunic under a red mantle 9¾ x 6 1/8 in. (24.7 x 15.5 cm.)
