Description

English: The Burnt Hendrix Strat is a Fender Stratocaster type electric guitar model that was once owned by Jimi Hendrix. Hendrix set the guitar on fire during his performance at the Miami Pop Festival on May 1968. A roadie kept the remains of the burnt instrument and later gave them to Frank Zappa. Zappa had the wreck restored to fully functional status by a luthier – it is said that solely the guitar’s body has been re-used. Zappa played this instrument on his album Zoot Allures (1976). After FZ’s passing away in 1993, his son Dweezil received the restored Burnt Hendrix Strat and reportedly sold it in an auction later on.
