| Description |
English: Fields and downland, Great Ridge near Chicklade 1 This view looking south-west from the edge of Great Ridge wood is of the fields and downland on the southern side of the wood. The slopes are dotted with tumuli and there is evidence of a medieval field system in the fields to the right.
The restricted byway goes down to Chicklade Bottom and the A303 trunk road, which runs east-west in front of the thin line of trees in the middle distance. Fast moving cars and lorries can usually be seen, but there was a fortuitous gap in the traffic when this picture was taken. |
